1. Architectural engineering construction (AEC)

Input: 2D image. Output: Cad Perfect® CAD file.


CAD/CAM Connect R2V has more than 23 years of scanning and converting experience behind us, with hundreds of thousands of AEC drawings converted to Cad Perfect® CAD files over the years. No matter what type of AEC drawings you have, we can convert them into true Cad Perfect® CAD files. When we deliver a file to you, you can be assured that the drawing is as accurate as if you had redrawn the drawing by hand — lines are lines, circles are circles, text is text. Because we have converted so many of drawings over the years we offer Cad Perfect® conversions of AEC work for a flat rate of $125 per file.

2. Architectural Details

Input: Paper/old linen drawings that we scanned. Output: AutoCAD 2010 *.dwg files.


We see these drawings every single day, and have converted thousands and thousands of details. Here is a good example of customer supplied specifications that we followed. Here the customer supplied an AutoCAD template file, along with a 33 page CAD drafting standards Manual — all of this we followed directly. In this case we supplied architectural and mechanical details of almost 2000 drawings. Not one drawing was returned or rejected. On larger ongoing projects like this, we often set delivery schedules and all of this is done by a CAD/CAM Connect R2V provided private FTP site specific for your project. In this case we delivered files on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays with a half a dozen files per delivery.

3. Mechanical Detailing

Input: raster image. Output: AutoCAD 2010 *.dwg files.


We do quite a bit of work for the aerospace industry. We just completed a two year two million dollar project for a U.S.A Air Force Base. We directly support production and own licenses for nearly all CAD systems, including: AutoCAD, Microstation, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, Catia, and many others.

4. Poor quality mechanical drawings

Input: 2D image. Output: AutoCAD 2010 *.dwg files.


Here we show the maturity of our process. As you can see several parts of this drawing are gone, they don't exist, and the quality of scan is poor. This is a common occurrence on older drawings that are in poor condition. Using some common sense, and our years of experience, we can often reconstruct missing information We have 20 years of blocks and symbols, along with thousands of custom made scripts by using advanced Software Products and toolkits such as AutoDesk Architectural Desktop, AutoDesk Mechanical, AutoDesk Electrical, and other such products we can quickly and accurately reproduce most engineering drawings

5. Electrical drawing

6. 3D Assembly Drawings

Input: vector image. Output: SolidWorks 3D model — *.sldprt.


We can start with one sheet or with a dozen detail and assembly sheets and create a single model. In this particular project we created 57 different models similar to what you see here. All of this was done directly in native SolidWorks in 45 days. All the drawing specifications were provided by the customer and we had a zero percent rejection. In a case like this it's common for us to produce the first model and send it to you as a test, a sample to make sure our process and deliverable is correct. This first model often exposes undefined surfaces that make projects like this very interesting and fun. Once everything is confirmed and accepted by the customer we then move forward with the entire project. For most of the common 3D mechanical conversion projects, SolidWorks is our platform of choice.

7. Accurate Aerospace 3D models

Input: Customer Supplied Raster Image. Output: 3D Catia file *.CATProduct.


This is a simple looking part, but apperances can be misleading. The required accuracy of this part is ±0.005" over any X, Y and Z space. CAD/CAM R2V Services is qualified to handle accurate aerospace conversion projects. We have produced mostly Catia files for Boeing 767, 747-8, the B2 bomber, and Lockheed's C5 program. With Lockheed we used Unigraphics. In this case the work is done in the native CAD system to preserve the history data.

8. Renderings

Input: customer discussions, photographs, existing structures, existing pictures, modifications of past projects, hand markups and hand sketches from the customer. Output: life-like rendering.


Here are various examples of rendering projects we have done in the past. We have used products like AutoDesk Revit, Lightwave, AutoDesk Architectural Desktop, and Rhino. For mechanical related drawings we frequently use AutoDesk inventor, Solidworks and 3D Max. Our deliverable products can also include full walkthroughs, full rendering and full 3D models suitable for 3D printers. We use very high 3D rendering engines based on nVideo’s Telsa big GPU video processing cards.
